The Green Property Professional (GPP) program has been created by the Green Building Institute and provides practical and informative online short courses, and formal recognition of ‘green’ skills in the professional property market. It is for individuals only.
The GPP program has been created with two primary aims, they are…
Individuals who are awarded the GPP logo in their relevant area can display the logo on their personal profile marketing material. Currently the program is focusing on the Real Estate Industry Professionals and Sustainability Consultants. Other property professional categories may be added in the future.
The GPP program works alongside other training programs and recognises sustainability skills from different areas. As long as skills are current, relevant and appropriate to the role, and can be proven (e.g. certificate, qualification, questionnaire results pass), the individual may gain access to the GPP program.
Certification as a GPP demonstrates that you have been trained and effectively “know your stuff” in your specific field of expertise, be it real estate, property management, energy efficiency etc.
Gaining acceptance as a GPP will …
The GPP logo is a symbol of environmental awareness and skill. The categories in the GPP program are Residential and Commercial.
The available technology, building requirements and opportunities are rapidly changing so it’s important that professionals keep their knowledge up to date in order to offer the best service possible to clients and to remain competitive.
The Green Building Institute recognises this and has committed to create and make available on an annual basis, an ‘Industry Update’ specifically for each profession covered under the GPP.
We aim to keep fees to a minimum so at this time there is no annual fee to join the program if you have successfully completed one of our applicable courses. If we are recognising skills and knowledge obtained elsewhere, this may incur a small fee.
You can find out more by contacting the Green Building Institute.
You can become a GPP by completing the relevant Green Property Professional Course or by proving skills and knowledge via a program questionnaire provided by the program coordinator for that profession.
